Welcome to Exe Valley Pilates, I’m Beth

Helping people feel stronger, move better and reconnect with themselves through Pilates.

I've been practising Pilates for over 20 years.

What started as a way to support my own body after having my first child quickly became something I couldn't imagine living without. Time and time again, Pilates helped me feel stronger, move more freely and keep those familiar lower back niggles at bay.

Today, it's still an essential part of my life, and it's a huge part of why I love sharing it with others.

A Teacher at Heart

Before Pilates, I spent many years working as a secondary school Geography teacher.

When my family and I moved to Devon in 2019, I decided to retrain in Pilates and begin a new chapter. Exe Valley Pilates was born in 2021, and I've never looked back.

While my career changed, one thing stayed exactly the same: I love teaching.

I love helping people understand their bodies, build confidence and experience those lightbulb moments when something suddenly clicks.

I teach people, not just exercises.

My role is to help you learn, progress and feel confident in your body, both inside and outside the studio.

Why Exe Valley Pilates Exists

I wanted to create the kind of Pilates experience I'd want to attend myself.

A place where people feel welcomed rather than intimidated.

A place where everyone feels seen, supported and encouraged.

A place where progress matters more than perfection.

Whether someone walks through the door looking to improve their strength, manage aches and pains, navigate the changes that come with midlife, or simply take time for themselves, my goal is always the same:

To help them leave feeling physically stronger and mentally calmer than when they arrived.

I believe Pilates is one of the most valuable things we can do for our long-term health and wellbeing.

It's not about chasing quick fixes or pushing your body to exhaustion.

It's about building strength, improving mobility and developing confidence in the way you move so that you can continue doing the things you love for years to come.

The body thrives on consistency, and I love helping clients discover just how capable they are when they give themselves the opportunity to learn and progress.

The Studio

Today, I teach group mat Pilates classes in Topsham and I will be offering small-group Reformer and Tower Pilates sessions from my boutique garden studio - coming soon!

With a maximum of four people in each studio class and small group mat classes, there's space for personal attention, meaningful progress and genuine connection.

Many clients join for the Pilates, but stay because they become part of the community.

When I'm Not Teaching...

I have 3 children and 2 labradors — that keeps me busy! We moved to Devon as we love the great outdoors and the sea. I like to hike the moors, paddleboard and surf on the water and I love to check out the wonderful array of locally produced food when I’m not practicing my own Pilates or reading/ learning updating my knowledge.
